Just when Rove was starting to gain respectable figures after returning to a normal timeslot of 8.30 Sunday, Ten has again pushed it back for the tiresome Big Brother which is gaining 10 more mind numbing minutes.
From Sunday, TV Tonight reports the revised schedule is as follows…
8:40pm Rove
9:50pm Supernatural
10:50pm Flight of the Conchords
11:25pm Formula One Grand Prix

Rove had Rove 903,000 viewers nationally last night. Climbing back up slowly following some low figures attested mostly to Big Brothers poor figures this year. The show itself has been pumping some good episodes lately.

(The Age) With The Simpsons into its 20th season, Bridget McManus and Nicole Brady ask local comedians, writers and animators what the residents of Springfield mean to them…
Rove McManus:
The Simpsons have influenced a lot of my comedy friends. There’s an episode, a Cape Fear parody, where Sideshow Bob gets hit in the face with about 20 rakes and it takes a good minute and a half for him to go through them all, which, in television terms, is a very long time for a joke, and it’s a perfect comedy moment. It’s now a yardstick for comedians when we talk about how you can keep going with a joke in that same way. We call it The Sideshow Bob Rake Idea. And when, if a joke falls flat, rather than just stop and move on, you keep going and reference the fact that the joke didn’t work and all you’re doing is making it worse for yourself, we use the phrase, “How will I get out of this hole? I’ll dig my way out”. That’s a Simpsons line.

Rove came in a dissapointing 20th for the night with 734,000 viewers nationally. 195,000 in Sydney and 238,000 in Melbourne.
Big Brother rated a pitiful 813,000 viewers, and is really the downfall of Rove, especially after last night’s great show. Hopefully Australian Idol will prove a better lead in later this year. Dance did Rove justice, BB - not so much.
