Beating out Daniel McPerhson, Shaun Micallef, Tony Jones and Hamish & Andy.

Rove has ran away with the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards for ‘Fave Aussie’ and ‘Fave TV Star’ at the awards ceremony tonight.

He beat out competition like Andrew Gùnsberg and Shaun Micallef for TV Star and the likes of Bindi Irwin and Hugh Jackman for Fave Aussie. He also won the championship belt for Best Burper.

TV talk-show host Rove McManus was dumped in a pool of a slime as he took out the top prize at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards for the second year in a row.

The perennial kids’ champion Rove descended from a slippery slide into a slime pool as he was announced the ‘fave aussie’, dragging in Australian Idol host Andrew Gunsberg with him.

He beat the likes of Bindi Irwin, Hugh Jackman and Jessica Mauboy for the title.

It was certainly McManus’ night.

He earlier beat Gunsberg in the famed burp off competition, and took out fave TV star.

As he went up to accept his award McManus was mobbed by children grabbing him in the audience.

“I need to tell you something, someone touched my bum,” McManus laughed on stage.

“… And that’s very inappropriate.”

Thousands of screaming children attended today’s ceremony where McManus snapped up the favourite Aussie as well as favourite TV star award at the Hisense Arena in Melbourne Park.

McManus said he was delighted to win against stiff competition from the daughter of the late crocodile hunter Steve Irwin.

“This is like the Nickelodeon gold bat – it’s a big one to be nominated for … I don’t even know why I’m here,” he said.

McManus, who earlier walked the orange carpet with stars from his television show Are You Smarter than A Fifth Grader, also took part in the ceremony’s famous burp off.

“I feel tall,” McManus said when asked to compare it to other award events.

Irwin didn’t walk away empty-handed. The youngster took the biggest Greenie gong which she dedicated to her father.

“I will dedicate it to my dad and my dad’s reserve,” Irwin said. “A small mining company is thinking about strip mining it and we want to just save this one spot.”
