NineMSN reports Rove’s production company is working on a new Network Ten series.
Meanwhile, Network Ten has announced that funny guy Rove McManus’ production team Roving Enterprises will start work on a new program to air in the second half of the year.
TV.com reveals more on the series.
Rove McManus has come to his network’s rescue, to develop a new 7pm program to air later this year.
Rove’s production company Roving Enterprises will deliver an unnamed new show to screen in the second half of the year. Precisely what he has in mind is still anybody’s guess.
TEN’s programming chief David Mott said: “That’s strictly under wraps for now, but I can tell you (again) … It is NOT a drama. It is NOT a quiz show. It is NOT a reality format or a repeat sitcom. BUT it is uniquely Australian.”
So we’re guessing it’s either light entertainment, game show or an edgy way of looking at the news. TEN first flagged a new show at its 2009 Program Launch, in which David Mott only revealed the first two shows in its plans for 7pm. David said: “We have The Biggest Loser, which goes straight into MasterChef and, for the second half of the year, we will have our brand new show.” Last year TEN dabbled with a bold dating show, Taken Out, but it failed to keep enough viewers hooked, amid criticism about the format.
Roving Enterprise’s executive producer/creative director, Craig Campbell confirmed that development would commence immediately on the new Melbourne-based production.
“We are thrilled to have won this opportunity to do a brand new show for TEN,” Craig said. “Ours has proven to be a very successful partnership — producing a diverse slate of shows and we can’t wait to get underway with this exciting new show.”
